Desserts: Featuring Mango

It's always best to flow with the cycles of nature and the changes of the seasons. Currently a whole new crop of delicious fruits and vegetables are becoming available to us now and it is a great time of year to integrate more produce into your diet.

Mango is one of my all-time favorite fruits and it's now in season! Mango is incredible for your health and appearance, clearing up the skin and alkalizing the body. It aids in eye health and digestion. It's loaded with Vitamin C and Vitamin A which boosts the immune system. It prevents cancer, lowers cholesterol and even helps with heat stroke! We should be eating this fruit every single day if we can.

Mango can be used in salsas, salads and smoothies.

The better news, is that it can be used in desserts!! You do not need to skip dessert or deprive yourself to include this healthy fruit in your diet. If someone told me I could clear my skin and prevent cancer by eating dessert, I would be ecstatic.

First, how do you choose the perfect mango? Always choose by feel! It should give slightly when pressed, similar to an avocado. If you are looking at the colors to judge ripeness, you are doing it wrong. Ripened mangoes would also have a subtle sweet smell at the end.
