This Award Winning Pineapple & Maple Glazed Ham Will Wow Any Dinner

There is something about this time of year that makes me crave ham. I think there is just something about the cooler weather, the turning of the leaves and the decorations that are going up that just puts you in the festive kind of mood and with festive moods comes festive foods!

One of the first things I think about when it comes to holiday foods is ham. I imagine the entire family surrounding a wonderfully cooked ham that is sweet and savory with a delicate aroma that just fills the room. It makes me all warm inside just thinking about it.

Ham is one of those meals that every family has their own way of preparing. It seems that tradition (and the matriarchs of the family) have their own way of dictating how the ham should be prepared and if they are in the kitchen with you, you dare not deviate from the tradition…trust us on that one.

So what is our tradition?

Well in order to prepare ham the way that we do you will need to gather the following things.

Ingredients:

Ingredients

for 4 servings

  • 1.7 kg (3 ¾ lb) gammon joint
  • 2 onion, quartered
  • 3 L (3 qt) pineapple juice

PINEAPPLE MAPLE GLAZE

  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 125 mL (½ cup) pineapple juice
  • 125 mL (½ cup) maple syrup
  • 25 clove
Once you have those items then it is time to break out the ham! Keep reading to see the step by step instructions on this fantastic dish!

Both gammon and ham are cuts from the hind legs of a pig. Gammon is sold raw and ham is sold ready-to-eat.
