The Ingredients To Gather:
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 onion
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 cup ketchup
- 3 tablespoons tomato paste
- One can Dr. Pepper
- 1/2 cup cider vinegar
- 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons ancho or New Mexican chili powder
- 1 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
The Step By Step Directions To Follow:
- Melt butter. Sauté onion, garlic in butter 10 minutes.
- Add remaining ingredients, simmer 15 minutes. Continue cooking until sauce begins to thicken, 20- 30 minutes.
- Let sauce cool for 10 minutes.
- Puree with immersion or traditional blender-this will make sauce thicker.
- Brush on food 5 – 15 minutes before finished.
