This isn't the first time a company has experimented with drone delivery, but 7-Eleven is really ambitious about its efforts. In fact, it may just beat other companies in implementing this strategy on a wider scale!
7-Eleven teamed up with the drone delivery start-up Flirtey to pull off the GPS-powered drop, casually upstaging Amazon in the process. That’s right, the corner convenience store you use mainly for emergency bathroom stops has beaten a tech giant to the first home drone delivery. Think on that the next time you slurp down a Fanta Blue Raspberry.
7-Eleven and Flirtey have plans to expand drone delivery tests after their successful first run.
“Drone delivery is the ultimate convenience for our customers and these efforts create enormous opportunities to redefine convenience,” said 7-Eleven executive vice president and chief merchandising officer Jesus H. Delgado-Jenkins in a statement.
We Haven't Decided If We're Excited About This Or Not!
So what do you think of 7-Eleven's new delivery option? Would you want your food delivered via drone or would you rather just run to the convenience store and get it yourself?
