The Ava Winery, a start-up based in San Francisco, claims to be able to do just that. The undertaking is the brainchild of Mardonn Chua and Alec Lee, who got the idea while visiting a Napa Valley vineyard in 2015.
They knew they could never afford a bottle like the ones they were seeing on display there, so went off in search of a way to make a low-cost version that would mimic the quality of the pricey wines that have been aged for several years.
