If You Haven't Checked Your Freezer, Do So Now!
There's been a spate of food recalls lately, with Asian restaurant chain P.F. Chang's being the latest to fall victim to potentially contaminated food. This recall isn't related to their restaurants, but rather to some of their packaged products sold in grocery stores, namely several frozen meals.
This most recent recall actually expands on an earlier recall from P.F. Chang's.
In this case, the problem is with sugar from one of their suppliers. The sugar was used in the sauces for these frozen meals and may contain small metal fragments. A ConAgra employee (ConAgra is the manufacturer of the meals) noticed the fragments while dispensing the sugar.
There have been no reports of injury or other adverse effects, but the fragments could cause temporary reflexive choking or gastrointestinal upset. We first reported on this story earlier this month but we just received a new update of other products that they are pulling.
