Avocados Are Starting To Get Super Expensive & The Reason Why Is A Jaw-Dropper!

The reason for the rising cost of avocados may sound ominous at first, but it actually means that the high prices are likely temporary. A lot of it has to do with Mexico's avocado harvest, but there are other reasons as well:

Mexico grows avocados year-round: One season usually ends in June, and another starts up in July, The Street explains. But this year, the June harvest was abnormally low. What’s more, a heat wave ruined much of California’s avocado crop just before the Fourth of July holiday, the Los Angeles Times reports. The California crop was also famously threatened by drought last year.

Add it all up, and this explains why you may have paid more for your avo grilled cheese fixings this summer.

Fortunately, things should already be turning around and hopefully we'll see avocado prices plummeting any day now. And that day just can't come soon enough because we are seriously craving some rich and creamy guacamole.
