Many of us have grown up expecting certain foods to always be available and this includes delicious avocados.
We just can't remember a time when we couldn't enjoy them in a variety of different dishes.
However, a drought may cause the food we have all grown quite fond of to become even harder to come by in the grocery store!

The recent drought throughout Southern California and parts of Mexico, during which temperatures rose to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, may affect the U.S. supply of avocados both this year and next year.
Garcia Organic Farm, located in Fallbrook, lost five avocado trees and other crops due to the scorching temperatures, which brings their sales to a screeching halt.
According to Heath Shoup of West Pak Avocado, their Mexican counterparts “overestimated and underperformed” this year.
“There are not enough avocados in the industry right now to supply the demand,” Shoup said.
Some growers have become concerned about the ways the extreme temperatures will affect next year’s sales.
“We’ve been here for 25 years, and this has never happened before,” said Jeanne Davis of Coyote Growers, who owns a six-acre orchard in Fallbrook. “There will probably be a minimal amount of avocados for next year because we think that some of the flowers didn’t make it.”
