No thanks. I make onion soup a day before then use that as the base to cook a pot roast in, adding Bloody Mary mix if needed. Bake for two hours then add unpeeled Yukon gold potatoes, baby carrots and parsnips and bake another hour.

I know how to prepare a great roast. My problem, the beef tastes like saw dust. Was raised on a farm where beef and pork were real.

I really don’t cook vegetables with it. I suppose you could. I usually just make gravy out of the juice and serve over mashed potatoes. It is good!

Stop with the pre made soups and such, sodium will kill us all. Learn to make your own. You can still use canned low so broth, but sauté your own veggies add flour and herbs, whisk in some milk. Sooooooo much better!!!

I make this quite a bit in winter I. Just love it and what a great smell in the house ,but I make it the old fashion way which I think is better then the new way,I still say the old way is the best way to cook,

I’ve used this recipe for years. My mother-in-law taught me it and I used it in the oven before the invention of the slow cooker. Great taste!

Good beef, seasoning, flour, oil and seer right before burn. Onions, celery, carrots, water into oven, last 30 minutes add quartered potatoes. Remove roast, reduce liquid in pan on range top, make a slurry out of cornstarch and cold water, add to reduce pan juices, medium heat and simmer till bubbly. You can keep your soups

If you want to make a GLUTEN FREE VERSION OF THIS–use a gluten free mushroom soup like progresso or Pacific–and instead of the dry onion soup mix add one sliced onion and 3 -4 little envelopes of salt free powdered beef bouillon ( I use Herb Ox)–a half cup or so of dry red wine and lots of ground pepper is good to add too!
