Canned pumpkin is one of those things we took for granted we could always count on. We grew up watching our mothers and grandmothers use it to make pies and any other number of pie-themed foods, especially in the fall and at the holidays. Canned pumpkin is practically an American tradition, really! But just like when we found out the truth about Santa Claus (We won't spoil it if any of the kiddos are reading this), we recently discovered that that tasty little can of pumpkin isn't really what we thought it was.

Boy, were we shocked! And a little disillusioned. We still can't believe we've been lied to all these years, and we're a little embarrassed that every time we served a food made with canned pumpkin, we were unintentionally misleading our guests about what we were feeding them! Hopefully they won't be too upset when they discover this what is inside instead.
