Once You Find Out… You Will Never-Ever Go Back To That Store Bought Crap Again!
For some of my friends, making spaghetti at home means grabbing a box of pasta and a jar of sauce from the grocery store. For me, I absolutely love making a rich hearty sauce from scratch. I love using this recipe and then modifying it slightly to mix it up, so it doesn't taste the same every time I make it. Sometimes I add heavy cream to make it a vodka sauce or I add sausage or meat to bulk it up for the boys.
No matter what I do to change up this recipe, every time I make it I am transported to Italy. After you make this meal for your family, you will know exactly how I feel. And if you have a pasta maker, I high suggest you make your pasta from scratch for the ultimate dining experience at home.

I’m sorry I don’t find “THE SECRET INGREDIENT” of a splash or merlot and chicken bouillon SOOOOO secretive ill stick to my own homemade sauce, my Italian MIL taught me 40 yrs ago
It would have to be sugar. I do not like tart spaghetti sauce
Thanks big Crock Pot Healthy Recipes fan here
Yummy
Have a great time!
when making anything with tomatoes use a tiny bit of sugar. I put about 1/2 to 1 tsp. in all my vegetables. it brings out the flavor,
I just add sugar
Chile’s
I HATE these pages that constantly make you click NEXT PAGE to view an article /recipe!
Waah whaah…make a real comment cry baby
It’s called gravy not pasta sauce !
I’ m sick to death of going to find the recipe for dish that I want to make only to play the old run around game and go to a gazillion sites before, if you’re lucky, you actually get the recipe! So not worth the frustration!
I So agree and wrote my comment even before I read yours. Glad to know it isn’t a “just me” thing!
What’s the secret ingredient?
yummy!!
Merlot, and chicken bouillon. I can understand the wine, but chicken bouillon???? Not for me!!! I use olive oil to saute onion, garlic, and tomato paste. Add my wine, crushed tomatoes, fresh basil and parsley, fresh ground pepper and kosher salt to taste and just simmer. The best!!!!
I agree….just put the whole recipe under the picture. If I have to click more than once I figure its not worth having!
Sneaky bastards.
I quit trying to find these sites. Usually disappointed in the end
Cinnamon!
The bouillon does make a difference. I don’t use wine in my sauce, but I do use chicken base and a chunk of cheese rhine. Either Parm. or Romano Totally worth it!
No worries, it’s just a small shake but it’s an amazing flavor!
Carrots are my secret ingredient, gravy/sauce not the same without them.
The two secret ingredients are actually not in this recipe. They are ground beef and bay leaves.
Bouillon is a high salt processed crap.use chicken broth
A whole onion while cooking. Then remove. Better than sugar
Steve Brundick, So save us the hassle and copy and paste it here, please.
Thank you! !!
This is a trap, BS, tired of games.
AMen
Could not get to it also
I add a small amount of sugar sometimes to tame the acidity of the sauce. That’s my secret ingredient lol
I’ve always used a cup or so of strong coffee in my sauce. Whatever’s left in the coffee pot if the sauce needs any added liquid. My Grandma did it and so do I!
Cumin
Karen Favreau Prince do you eat ceaser salad? FYI there’s anchovies in the dressing!
A Lil sugar
I usually drink the Merlot
What a joke! You might as well buy a jar of Cheap sauce and hamburger! That sure as hell ain’t no true Gravy!
I add the sugar also! And instead of bouillon try chicken base.
That sounds like a LOT of chicken bouillon.
I’m going to give that a try.
Love anchovies in my sauce!
Add Tobasco and a tad more Merlot and you suddenly have Vinces sauce. Shhh…I didn’t tell you that. Lol
