Do You Have Half Of A Tomato Left Over? Keep It Fresh By Using This Age-Old Hack!
When many of us cut up tomatoes for a salad or for tacos or even for a spaghetti sauce, we sometimes have half of the tomato left.
Since we usually want to use the rest of the tomato for another meal, we put it in a plastic bag and stick it in the fridge because that is the cheapest, quickest way to do it.
However, why is it that the tomato goes bad really fast? The simple answer is, you have probably be storing it the wrong way all this time!
There is a much better way to store left over tomato halves and it is so easy you'll wonder why you never thought of it before!
Save those plastic baggies and don't even think about throwing your delicious, red tomatoes away just because they tend to decompose a little bit quicker; once you see this, you'll want to try it.

I leave mine on the counter and cover with a napkin. Eat it the next day.
I do the same thing
The best way that I have found – when you have it sliced so that it is a flat surface – only one side exposed – place your tomato cut side down on a plate – not a paper plate either, using a SMOOTH finish plate – it actually creates a seal – store it in a cool place – not the fridge for 2 or 3 days – the warmer the area – the shorter the “lifespan”.
You should never put a tomato in the fridge. Kills the flavor (volatiles)
The best way to store your remaining tomato halves is cut-side down on a paper towel. Stick paper towel in the bottom of a storage container, place open face of tomato on paper towel, stick closed container in fridge. If you use it within two days, it will taste good as new. If you can’t use it over the next couple days, stick it in the freezer until you need it.

I eat all at one time no leftovers.
You guys actually used 3 pages to say this? Geesh, just put it in the plastic baggie already. It lasts the same amount of time at my house. Well, less than 8 hours….:p
Put it in the freezer? Only if you want to ruin it.
Gotta google it because you have to go through too many pages.

Left over tomato? Not in my house. Any portion left gets sliced and eaten. Sometimes immediately!!
Not wasting my time. If I have to click more than once, I’m not going any further, don’t like teasers and I don’t like the crap that comes with it.
Who has leftover tomatoes?
