This homemade pasta sauce recipe makes enough to serve two to four people but if you want tons of sauce or just want some leftovers to enjoy again later, you can double the ingredients.
This sauce uses mushrooms but if you don't like those, you can use other veggies that you do enjoy or just leave them out altogether.

The Ingredients To Gather:
- 1/2 lb. mild Italian sausage
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 medium onion
- 1 small box crimini mushrooms
- 1 bell pepper
- salt and pepper to taste
- 4 medium cloves garlic
- 6 vine tomatoes
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 2 teaspoons dried basil
- 1 tablespoon cane sugar
The Step By Step Directions To Follow:
1) Cook sausage until no longer pink.
2) Heat 2 tablespoons olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add onion, lower heat, cook until beginning to soften, 5 minutes. Add bell pepper,cook until the onions are almost transparent, 3 minutes. Add mushrooms and cook until everything is nice and soft. Add garlic ,salt, pepper to taste, cook 2 minutes.
3) Add tomatoes, oregano, basil, sugar, remaining tablespoon of olive oil. Increase heat to medium, bring to a boil. Simmer until the sauce has thickened, 20 minutes. Add sausage, stir to combine.
4) Bring water to boil. Add salt and stir in your pasta. Cook to desired firmness.
