If You Want To Make A Good Salisbury Steak You Have To Get Creative On The Ingredients

Here's everything you need for this hearty Salisbury steak. You can use packaged gravy or make your own.

Let's Get Started…

Ingredients To Gather:

  • 3 tsp olive oil (divided)
  • 1/2 sweet yellow onion, diced
  • 8 oz of button or cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 lb of lean ground beef (96/4)
  • Bulb of roasted garlic
  • 2 pieces of bacon, crumbled
  • Snider's Prime Rib seasoning (or your favorite steak seasoning), to taste
  • Sea salt and fresh cracked pepper, to taste
  • 1-2 packets of brown gravy mix, prepared per instructions

Directions To Follow:

Start by roasting the garlic, and then cooking the bacon over medium heat in a large skillet. Drain the cooked bacon on a paper towel, and then drain all but 1 tsp. of the bacon grease from the skillet. Add 1/2 tsp. of olive oil to the skillet and heat it. When it's hot, add diced onion. Cook the onion between 5 and 6 minutes or until tender, stirring frequently. When it's done, remove from heat and set it aside so it can cool. Next, add 1 1/2 tsp. of olive oil to the skillet and heat over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the mushrooms to the skillet and heat them for 3 or 4 minutes or until golden brown. Turn the mushrooms over and then cook on the other side until golden brown.

Now, make the gravy in a small saucepan and add the mushrooms when it's thickened. Then, simmer the mixture. Next, mix the ground beef, bacon bits, caramelized onion, roasted garlic bulb, steak seasoning, sea salt and fresh cracked pepper in a large bowl and shape into oval patties. Add another teaspoon of oil to the skillet and heat over medium heat. When it's hot, add the patties and cook them for 3 or 4 minutes on each side. Cover the patties with the gravy and you're done.

Finished!

We never thought making Salisbury steak could be so easy, but we've never been happier to be proven wrong! This hearty main course goes well a generous helping of rich and creamy mashed potatoes for a stick-to-your-ribs meal, but we also like it with a salad or a couple of vegetable side dishes.

Enjoy!
