It takes only minutes to prepare but about forty-five minutes to bake but it will smell so heavenly, your mouth will be watering before you try that first incredible bite!

The Ingredients To Gather:
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 large yellow onion
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 cup milk
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 26-ounce bag frozen shredded hash browns
- 1/2 cup light sour cream
- 3 cups cornflakes
- 2 tablespoons butter
The Step By Step Directions To Follow:
- Melt butter over medium heat.
- Add onion, cook until softened and translucent, about 5-6 minutes.
- Stir in flour cook, stirring constantly, for about a minute.
- Combine chicken broth, milk, slowly whisk in the mixture.
- Add salt, pepper, thyme. Stir to combine.
- Bring mixture to a boil, reduce heat to medium-low, simmer, stirring frequently, until the mixture is slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
- Take pot off heat, stir in cheese until smooth.
- Mix in frozen hash browns, lifting and folding mixture until well combined. Stir in sour cream.
- Toss lightly crushed cornflakes with butter until evenly combined. Scoop out potato mixture into a 9X13-inch baking dish, top with buttered cornflakes.
- Bake at 350 degrees 45 minutes.
