Looking To Impress Those Guests This Cheese, Garlic & Hash Brown Casserole Is The Way To Go!

This amazing breakfast time casserole can be made using any kind of hash browns you like. If you love it so much that you don't want to wait until breakfast, it also makes a good side dish at Thanksgiving or any other party you need to bring a dish to. It takes only minutes to prepare but about forty-five minutes to bake but it will smell so heavenly, your mouth will be watering before you try that first incredible bite!

Let's Get Started!

The Ingredients To Gather: 

  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 1 large yellow onion
  • 1/4 cup  flour
  • 1 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 26-ounce bag frozen shredded hash browns
  • 1/2 cup light sour cream
  • 3 cups cornflakes
  • 2 tablespoons butter

The Step By Step Directions To Follow:

  1. Melt butter  over medium heat.
  2. Add  onion,  cook until   softened and translucent, about 5-6 minutes.
  3. Stir in  flour cook, stirring constantly, for about a minute.
  4. Combine  chicken broth, milk, slowly whisk in the mixture.
  5. Add  salt, pepper,  thyme. Stir to combine.
  6. Bring  mixture to a boil,  reduce  heat to medium-low, simmer, stirring frequently, until the mixture is slightly thickened, about 5 minutes.
  7. Take  pot off  heat,  stir in cheese until smooth.
  8. Mix in  frozen hash browns, lifting and folding mixture until well combined.  Stir in  sour cream.
  9. Toss  lightly crushed cornflakes with butter until evenly combined. Scoop out  potato mixture into a 9X13-inch baking dish,  top with  buttered cornflakes.
  10. Bake at 350 degrees  45 minutes.
