As a kid, I grew tired of lemon meringue pie, lemon bars, and even lemon flavored candy. I often discarded them from the package, in favor for strawberry, cherry or anything which I deemed to have a more exciting flavor. That changed when I stumbled upon this delicious lemon bar recipe.
Let's Get Started…
Ingredients To Gather:
- 2 cups Flour
- 1/2 cup Sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon Salt
- 2 sticks (1 Cup) Salted Butter, Cut Into Small Cubes
- 1-1/2 cup Sugar
- 1/4 cup Flour
- 4 whole Large Eggs
- Zest And Juice Of 4 Medium-sized Lemons
- Powdered Sugar, For Sifting
Directions To Follow:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Grease pan with butter.
- Stir together the flour, sugar, and salt. Add the butter to the bowl. Press into the prepared pan and bake until golden around the edges, about 20 minutes.
- For the filling: Stir together the sugar, flour and eggs.
- Add the lemon zest and juice and mix until combined. Pour over the crust and bake about 20 minutes.
- Allow to cool for 2 hours, then sift powdered sugar over the top before cutting into squares.
All Done!
Now that you're finished, share them with your friends and loved ones. Or if you really enjoy it, don't be ashamed to save them all for yourself. Feel free to add your own spin to this recipe by adding, fresh cut berries, strawberries, or even a caramel drizzle atop this decadent dessert.
Enjoy!
