OMG We Just Made Baked Ziti In Our Crock Pot & It Came Out Perfect – We Even Added The Noodles!

You can serve this alongside a nice, light salad or maybe even some crusty garlic bread. Baked Ziti is one of those dishes that tastes better the next day so make sure that you refrigerate and cover it with some aluminum foil when you are finished enjoying.

Let's Get Started…

The Ingredients To Gather:

  • 1 jar of Mezzetta Tomato and Sweet Basil Pasta Sauce
  • 1 jar of Mezzetta Roasted Garlic & Caramelized Onions Pasta Sauce *** (you may want to add an additional half jar of sauce – I added mine once it was finished cooking)
  • 1¼ pounds uncooked penne pasta
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅓ cup freshly chopped basil
  • 2 cups of freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup grated Asiago cheese

The Step By Step Directions To Follow:

  1. Grease the inside of a 6 qt slow cooker
  2. Place penne in a colander and rinse with cold water, set aside
  3. Combine ricotta, eggs, and basil in a bowl and stir well
  4. Grate Parmesan cheese (I used around 2 cups)
  5. Add 2 cups of pasta sauce to the bottom of the slow cooker
  6. Add a layer of penne
  7. Dot on half of the ricotta mixture
  8. Add half of the Parmesan cheese
  9. Add another layer of sauce
  10. Add another layer of penne on top of sauce
  11. Cover with remaining ricotta and Parmesan
  12. Add the last of the penne and top it with the remaining sauce
  13. Cover and cook on high for 3½ to 4 hours, or until noodles are cooked
  14. During the last few minutes, add asiago cheese to the top and allow to melt
  15. Serve alone or topped with red pepper flakes and served with garlic bread

Finished!
