Have you ever tried to make sausage gravy from scratch? If you're more of a I'm-going-to-grab-a-gravy-pouch-at-the-store kind of girl, prepare to have your world turned upside down. You're about to experience what you've been missing your whole life.
Let's Get Started…
Things You Will Need:
-
1 package maple flavored sausage
-
3 tablespoons butter
-
1/4 cup all purpose flour
-
3 cups whole milk
-
salt and better to taste
How To Prepare:
- Cook sausage in skillet, then remove sausage when cooked and work with drippings in pan. Mix in your butter and flour and keep stirring until nice and smooth. Turn your heat down a little add your milk, a little bit at a time. Don't forget to keep whisking! Keep doing this until your sauce begins to thicken. Add salt and pepper to your preference.
- Chop up the cook sausage and add to your gravy.
Note: If your gravy begins to seize up on you, you can always add a little milk to think it out to desired thickness. Serve over your favorite breakfast item.

How would people not know…
Well if it was made with chipped beef instead of sausage it would be called “Chipped beef on toast” or in the old days the sailors called it “S.O.S.” she.. on a shingle because they had it sooo often.
