Violence Over Ramen? We Still Can't Believe It, But It's Frighteningly True…
We've heard a lot of stories about prison food — namely, how atrocious it is and the lengths that inmates will go to to get enough cash to buy something edible from the prison commissary. We've also heard stories about the prison system's version of the black market, where the main currency is often cigarettes, which can be traded to buy everything from chocolate bars to clothing. Well, it all has to do with the decrease in the quality of prison food in facilities throughout the U.S., owing largely to the need for prisons to save money. As the quality and quantity of food has decreased, inmates have been forced to get creative to get a good and hot meal.
