Castle Cheese Inc.was found to not be selling 100 percent Parmesan cheese, but rather mixing it in with lower cost cheeses and cellulose, an anti-clumping agent made from wood pulp.

Unfortunately, without access to a laboratory, you’ll most likely be at the mercy of organizations like the FDA to supervise food sellers.  If you do have a lab  there are ways to save somebody’s plate. There isn’t a uniform test across all foods, but mass spectrometry has been helpful in identifying certain chemicals.

    I bought shredded cheese to put on my pizza…wondered why it didn’t melt…read ingredients…no cheese…all junk!
