Add some Asian flare to your kitchen tonight and making this amazing sesame chicken dish for dinner tonight. The whole family will love this dish, and will even want second helpings.
Things You Will Need:
- 1.5 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into pieces
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1 tbsp whole wheat flour flour
- 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp white vinegar
- 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken stock
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp black sesame seeds (you can also use all regular)
How To Prepare:
- Start off by prepping your oven. You'll want to preheat it to about 400 degrees fahrenheit for this recipe.
- While the oven is preheating, you'll want to prepare your sauce. In a small bowl you are going to mix chicken stock, brown sugar, garlic, sesame oil, white vinegar, and soy sauce together. You can just set this aside for in the mean time. We will come back to it.
- Prepare the meat. Season with salt and pepper and toss in flour.
- Now it's time to cook your chicken in an oven safe pan. We will start out on the stove top. Heat up your olive oil over medium heat and cook the chicken in a single layer. Cook for three minutes on each side.
- Turn off the stove top and pour sauce over chicken. Place the chicken, pan and all, in the oven and cook for 20 minutes. Garnish with sesame seeds when serving.
I like to enjoy this chicken over a bowl of white rice. I feel like this is the classic and proper way to enjoy, but if your watching your figure you can make this a little more hearth healthy by serving with brown rice instead.
Drizzle some honey on top to make it sweeter!
