According to a Tumblr post, “In the lettuce club, you meet once a year and, in this meeting, you have an hour to eat an entire head of lettuce” the post said, as reported by BuzzFeed. “Whoever eats the lettuce the fastest is the leader of the lettuce club and has to set up the meeting for next year.”
The original post says that they have one hour to finish eating the lettuce head, but BuzzFeed reports that they have five minutes to devour the iceberg in its entirety, and if they have leftovers after 30 minutes, they are banned from attending next year's meeting.
Maine School for Science and Mathematics started the whole thing. When people started hearing about the lettuce club, they started their own, and it has spread across the country.
