The Biggest Food Trends Right Now That Hipsters & Foodies Are Raving About – Have You Tried Them Yet?

Here's the complete list of trendy “hipster” foods. We were shocked to see Spam mentioned on a list of hip foods, but we have to admit we're curious!

High-end Spam

Spam used to be something everyone joked about, but now it's gone upscale thanks to flavors like the Hawaiian Spam musubi and even Spam fries!

Purple bread

Invented by a food scientist at the National University of Singapore, this bread contains antioxidants from black rice and is digested 20 percent slower than regular bread, which is meant to reduce the blood sugar spikes you get from other bread. The only drawback? It's not on the market yet.

Ube

This tubular root is commonly used in Filipino cuisine and has a sweet taste. It's also increasingly used as a natural food dye thanks to its purple hue.

No-waste restaurants

Here in the U.S., we waste nearly 40 percent of our food, but many in the restaurant are looking to change that by serving dishes made from leftovers so that nothing goes to waste.

Poke

This Hawaiian staple combines raw fish, vegetables, fruits and spices and is popular because it's not only healthy but also quick and easy to make.

No-tip restaurants

This trend is growing in popularity all over the world, with some major restaurant chains embracing it as well.

Fairy bread

This white bread adorned with sprinkled originated in Australia, where it was a popular tea-time snack for children.

Cauliflower rice

Cauliflower is increasingly being used as a substitute for pretty much anything, especially grain-based foods.

Raclette

This Swiss/French cheese was traditionally melted right at the table and then poured over vegetables, potatoes, and other foods.

“Elevated” toast

Well, this is basically just toast…but toasted in an oven and topped with high-end jam or cheese, or maybe just bacon and egg. It's similar to an open-face sandwich but much trendier!

We have to admit, some of these trendy foods sound a little silly and overrated, but hey, we're always excited to try new things! Would you try any of the foods on this list? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
