Just buy a salad spinner
Iwill try that
Put your clean lettuce in a clean pillowcase. Go outside and swing the pillow case. Or place the pillowcase in you washing machine, set the machine to spin and let the machine do the work.
It’s much easier to just use a salad spinner
And keep in the fridge and grab what you need from it..lasts all week.
I never heard of drying lettuce. I have been cooking quite successful for 50 + years. Just wash the lettuce, shake off the water and lay it on the cabinet and by the time you get the other things ready for the salad it is dry. Why make such a huge deal out of it and go to all those extra steps or spend money on a salad spinner?
GOOD HINTS,,,,,,,,DON’T HAVE TO HAVE A BUNCH OF GADGETS LIKE A SALAD SPINNER
I use a clean pillowcase that has been turned inside out, step outside and swing the pillow case around till have water coming out of the bottom of the case where the lettuces are located!
To much work a spinner will do”
Really!!! Nothing this says is new. A salad spinner is the best.
I have tried the swinger and it works very and oh, good exercise for the arms.
And I will tell you how, because I NEVER go to the next page. Put the lettuce outer leaves pointing toward the middle of a spread dish towel that is clean. Gather the four ends with the lettuce snag in a bundle, and go outside. Swing the bundle vigorously 5 times in a circular fashion with your left hand. The lettuce bundle should be going 360, over your head, then by your knees. Then swing 5 times with your right hand. Now you have dry lettuce by centrifugal force, and you just did a little exercise! Bingo! You are good!!
Salad spinners take up too much room in the cabinets, and my method provides a little exercise.
You are so right! And this uses no space in the cabinets!
I never thought of a salad spinner as a “fancy kitchen gadget”…..LOL
And water everywhere?
Me too, but I use a clean dishcloth. Works great.
What’s so”fancy” about a salad spinner? They are relatively cheap and get the job done quickly. Keep your pillowcases on your bed.
Put leaves on a clean dry dish towel and pat dry.
Salad spinner does work fine however takes up a lot of room.
learned that from Julia Child 50 years ago…
Oh, heck…I just throw mine in the clothes dryer!!! LOL Just kidding….
