Just a few years ago, antibacterial soaps quickly became all the rage when they were introduced. Considered revolutionary at the time, they promised to give users extra protection beyond just washing their hands with plain old soap and water. These innovative new cleansing products would keep people safe from the dangerous bacteria that can cause various kinds of illness and other health problems. However, it didn't take long for both the public and scientists to start questioning their effectiveness, and even wondering if they had drawbacks of their own.

Well, now the FDA has concluded there's some validity to these concerns and has banned 19 ingredients used in many antibacterial soaps. The FDA is giving companies more time to provide data on three other ingredients, which are the ones used in many of the products on the shelves today. While companies offer hand soap, body soap, dish soap and other products with supposed antibacterial properties, it looks like these products could eventually be a thing of the past.

    Would rather them spend there time banning artificial sweeteners and dyes.
