This spaghetti sauce recipe makes about eighteen servings but you can cut it in half if you don't need quite that much. The wine in the sauce gives it a great flavor but if you would rather not use it, you can use beef broth instead and it will taste just as great.

- 5 pounds Ground Beef
- 3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
- 2 Onions
- 2 Green Bell Peppers
- 6 cloves Garlic
- 1 cup White Wine
- 2 cans Crushed Tomatoes
- 1 can (14 Oz. Size) Crushed Tomatoes
- 1 can (small, 4-ounce) Tomato Paste
- 1 jar Marinara Sauce
- 1 teaspoon Oregano
- 1 teaspoon Thyme
- 4 whole Bay Leaves
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Kosher Salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper (optional)
- 1/4 cup Parsley
- 1 whole Rind From One Wedge Parmesan (optional)
- 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese (optional)
- 2 pounds Spaghetti
- Parsley, For Serving
- Parmesan Cheese, For Serving
The Step By Step Directions To Follow:
- Brown ground beef . Remove meat from pot. Set aside.
- Drizzle in olive oil. Throw in onion, bell pepper. Stir around for 1 1/2 minutes, add garlic. Stir, cook for an additional minute.
- Pour in the wine and allow it to reduce 1 1/2 minutes. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, marinara sauce. Stir to combine, add oregano, thyme, sugar, salt, bay leaves, and crushed red pepper . Stir, add ground beef, stir to combine.
- Place lid on pot, simmer for 1 hour, stirring. Add a little water or some low-sodium broth if it needs more liquid.
- Add parsley and Parmesan cheese. Stir to combine, put the lid back on, simmer for another 30 minutes Discard bay leaves before serving.
