The Two Sandwiches You Should Avoid Are The Chicken Sub & The Chicken Teriyaki. But There Is More To The Story Of Why You Should Just Avoid This Place All-Together.
Check This Out…
He writes: “Chicken is given a two day shelf life, once in the counter. However these two bypass this and get four days, and can get a little stinky.”
If you're in the States, it's bad news for chicken lovers. Another Reddit user responded: “I was a subway employee for around a year here in the states and Seeing that you guys have a 2 day shelf on Chicken teriyaki amazes me.
“Our CT had a 5 day shelf and we were told that once it reaches the 5th day, to just change the date. With all of the shift changes and varying factors, we never knew how long this chicken was out(between 5-9 days). I quit after I got reprimanded for throwing out CT on the 5 day.”
Gross. At least the UK apparently has stricter standards.
He also revealed that the chicken isn't 100% meat but, as with many shop-bought cold meat products, is made up of 84% chicken with added starch and water. And when asked what the one thing in the store was that he wouldn't eat, he again said chicken because “it stinks when it comes out the bag.”
The Reality Of Subway
Subway sells cheap sandwiches for a reason and a lot of people do not think of the reason why their stuff is so cheap. However, if you've ever became sick it was probably from this particular sandwich.
What Happens If You Are Starving & On A Budget?
If you are on a budget, and need to eat something on the cheap and healthy we understand. Subway DOES offer one alternative that is a lot better than Chicken and you actually get a lot more meat with it.

This is obviously a disgruntled employee. I have been with Subway for 16 years and Subway has a high standard especially for food safety and food quality. If this employee really observed shelf life issues this would have been a local store manager/ personal doing this. Subway coorp does not in any way justify this type of behavior. Subway coorp would deal with this issue sternly and quickly if they are aware of this. This employee should have notified Subway Coorp of they really had a concern . This would have enabled Subway Coorp to notify the local Subway region office and they would investigate it and taken corrective actions (help, educate, train, disciplinary actions as needed) as needed.
Again Subway has very high standards on all aspects of operations especially the food quality and food safety! Subway is continuing to strive to continually striving to improve every single day!
I worked for Subway years ago, and while there were definitely employees that tried to get around doing their jobs properly, it was definitely not the company itself that did it. The only instance of anything remotely like this that happened was a fellow employee trying to rush and put soup away before it was at proper temp. I told them why it was dangerous and it never happened again. This employee must have been terminated or had a franchise owner that likely didn’t know what was happening in their store.
I also work at Subway and our chicken was always ordered from the customers so we never had 5 to 9 day chicken sittin around, even when we got the packages they did not smell bad or anything, our steak and chicken was ordered the most
Their gloves are cheap and in effective
The sweat from your hands leaks out into food
Yuk
Somebody always trying to start s**t
ate there once..horrible
Got sick from a tuna subway.
other fast food places use meat product too,Arbys beef is only 51% beef and the rest is filler. Same goes for other places too. Like DD egg sanwiches . Not eggs, egg product made with cornstarch, tapioca etc… made to look like an egg’ My motto, cook at home
then maybe they should do away with gloves ,I have seen employees of many places handle garbage ,then handle food ,not thinking anything about it ,now if they did not have gloves on ,they would feel the grit from garbage ,and wash their hands !!!!!! that is my point
No subway’s since 1997 , food poison subway Troy Al,,,,ugh ,,,, bad new’s ,, !!’
I love Subway and think the timing of an disgruntled employee being fired from Subway is kind of fishy! You can’t judge all Subways’ by a couple of nasty business( franchise owner s ) that are cutting corners to save money!! Is it gross and unsanitary if these accusations are true, but seriously, exercise some common sense!
Does this page post actual recipes or just where they think we shouldn’t eat?
I use to manage a subway, there is a guide line on how long a product can be held. NEVER EVER did we hold products for 5 days.I also think this person was giving untrue info.
