The reason for the spaghetti spoon hole came to light recently when a user posted a photo on the Internet along with a short explanation saying that the hole was there because it holds the recommended portion for one serving of spaghetti. Website Thrillist checked it out and verified that the claim seems to be accurate.
Is it legit? Looks like it! Spaghetti-spoon hole size isn't regulated so there's bound to be discrepancies among brands, but the amount of pasta that can fit through an average one certainly seems on par with the half cup recommended by the USDA.
This Is Epic!
Had you ever wondered what the hole in the center of a spaghetti spoon was for? What do you think of this explanation? Will it change how much pasta you eat now that you know what a recommended serving is?
