The Ultimate Guide For Any Cooking Scenario: Parchment Paper Vs. Aluminum Foil

This Is A Much More Complex Choice Than We Realized!

We admit to being a little confused when it comes to choosing either parchment paper or aluminum foil when cooking and baking. Many recipes call for some kind of liner to be used on the pan, including everything from making chocolate cookies to roasting vegetables. We kind of thought a liner was a liner, but boy were we wrong! In fact, while sometimes these two materials are interchangeable, other times only one will do, and using the other could ruin the entire recipe.

See, parchment paper is nonstick, which makes it the only choice for messy foods like anything that's sticky or gooey, or that's especially starchy, liked baked goods. Whichever one is the right choice, both are important because they reduce the need for using grease or butter to coat the pan. One note: it is important to use the correct side when using aluminum foil. For nonstick foil, place the food on the dull side, but when using heavy duty or standard foil, it's okay to place food on either side.

On the show with Ree Drummond, have you noticed she tears the foil off the roll, always in a straight line, no tears. It’s never in a box. How do they do that?
