They say “if you love something, let it go and if it comes back, it's meant to be.” Some of you avocado lovers may have to let go of your love momentarily. Chances are avocados will be back so it's meant to be.
But you did hear me right, there is shortage of everyone's favorite fruit. Due to the weather and miscalculation of demand there will be a shortage of avocados this season.
Last spring, the country panicked when California’s drought—the worst in 1,200 years—threatened the country’s supply of our favorite fruit. Australia even faced a threat earlier this year. But every time we get wind of a potential avocado dearth, we can’t help but worry.
Though 80 percent of the country’s supply of avocados comes from Mexico, Time points out that our neighbor to the south may also have “miscalculated the size of the market this year.”
We Can't Live Without Guacamole!
We all hope this avocado shortage will be overcome just like those in the past, because a life without avocados is a tough life to live.
