These Honeycrisp Apple Fritters Are A Decadent Treat!

These Honeycrisp Apple Fritters Are A Decadent Treat!

Here's everything you need for these sweet, crispy fritters. This recipe makes about 12 fritters of between 2 and 3 inches in diameter.

Ingredients to Gather

1 1/2 cup
1 1/2 tsp yeast
1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup whole milk
1 egg
2 tbsp melted butter, slightly cooled

1 tbsp butter
3/4 cup of chopped, peeled honeycrisp apples
1 tbsp brown sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon

for the glaze
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp half and half

vegetable oil for frying

Directions to Follow

Begin by mixing together the dry ingredients, and then adding the egg and milk and mixing using a dough hook. Then, add the melted butter and mix. Finally, used a greased bowl and turn out the dough before covering with a tea towel. Let it rise for about an hour. Next, melt butter in a small saucepan and then add the apples, sugar and cinnamon and cook until the apples are just a little bit soft. Set them aside to cool. When the dough's ready, add the apple mixture and then form small smalls that are about 2 inches around. Let them rise for about 20 to 30 minutes. Now you're ready for the final steps:

About 10 minutes before second rise is complete, make the glaze.

Heat your oil to about 350-360 degrees. I lost the little handle that holds the thermometer to the pan, which made it a little annoying to keep tabs on the temperature. I've since ordered this thermometer from Amazon.

Once temperature is stable, drop balls into oil (a couple at a time).

Allow to cook for about 1 minute on the first side and about another minute on the other side. Judge done-ness by color you are looking for golden brown.

Using tongs, pull out cooked fritter to drain on paper towel lined drain rack. Repeat to cook the remaining fritters.

While fritters are still warm, apply glaze to fritter.

These fritters taste best if served warm. That's why we recommend making smaller batches if you're just making them for your family. This way, you won't waste and everyone can gobble up the fritters before they get cold. As good as these fritters are, we're sure that won't be a problem!
