These Spiced Beef Tacos Have An Interesting Twist – We Would Have Never Thought To Add This!

This recipe makes enough for six servings but if you want leftovers to enjoy the next day you can always double the ingredients. The raisins may seem weird at first but you will love the sweet flavor that they add to the recipe. You can serve these with cabbage, red onion, salsa or any of your favorite toppings. They take twenty minutes to prepare and ten minutes to cook.

Let's Get Started!

The Ingredients To Gather:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 red onion
  • ½ cup raisins
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon mild chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 16 corn tortillas
  • vegetables for frying

The Step By Step Directions To Follow:

  1. In a skillet over medium high heat, add the olive oil and red onion.
  2. Fry the onion until tender and lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Add raisins and chicken broth along with chili powder, red pepper flakes and cinnamon.
  3. Stir and cook until most of the chicken broth (but not all) has cooked off.
  4. Puree until smooth.
  5. In that same pan add ground beef and cook over medium heat.
  6. Drain off any extra fat into the sink. Add pureed raisin sauce to the beef and cook it with the meat. Season to taste with kosher salt. Set the beef aside in a bowl.
  7. Place about 1 ½ tablespoons of the meat across a warm, flexible corn tortilla and then use a piece of dry spaghetti or a toothpick to seal them closed.
  8. Clean the skillet and pour a coating of oil across the bottom of the skillet. Heat it over medium-high heat.
  9. Right away place the tacos in the hot oil, seam down.
  10. Fry the tacos to golden brown, turning them with tongs as they cook on each side.

Enjoy!
