This Baked Ziti Dish May Be Similar To Lasagna But It’s Less Time Consuming & A Hell Of A Lot Better

This recipe serves about 6 people, but could easily be tweaked to serve more or even less. No matter how many you serve, this dish will become a dinner favorite on any night.

Let's Get Started… 

Ingredients To Gather: 

  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1/2 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 teaspoon dried leaf basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried leaf oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 8 ounces ziti pasta
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 3/4 cup fresh grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley

Directions To Follow: 

  1. Heat the oven to 350° F.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the ground beef, sausage, and onion.
  4. Add the garlic, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, and crushed red pepper.
  5. In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1/2 cup of Parmesan cheese, the egg, and 1 cup of Mozzarella cheese.
  6. Cook the ziti, add to the bowl with the ricotta cheese mixture.
  7. Add the meat sauce to the ziti mixture.
  8. Transfer half of the pasta mixture into the prepared baking dish.

~*~Rest Of The Recipe~*~

Build the rest of the ziti by pouring the meat sauce and cheese on top of the pasta and repeating the process until there is no more.

Once you have finished assembling the dish, put it in the oven for 20-25 minutes.
