This amazing baked ziti recipe makes enough eight to ten servings so there should be enough for everyone to enjoy but if you want extra just in case, you can always double the ingredients.

The Ingredients To Gather:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 2 bell peppers
- 1 onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 4 cups marinara sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- black pepper
- 1 pound dried ziti or penne pasta
- 1 cup whole-milk ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 8 ounces mozzarella and/or provolone cheese
The Step By Step Directions To Follow:
- Arrange rack in middle of oven, heat to 375°F. Bring a pot of heavily salted water to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Heat oil over medium heat until shimmering. Add sausage, cook, until cooked through, 8- 10 minutes.
- Add peppers, onion, garlic, pepper flakes; season with salt, pepper; cook, stirring occasionally, 10 minutes.
- Add marinara, 1/2 teaspoon salt, combine, bring to simmer. Remove from heat.
- Add pasta, cook until tender. Stir ricotta, 1/4 cup of Parmesan,salt in bowl.
- Return pasta to empty pot. Add half of sauce , stir until pasta is coated. Add ricotta mixture , fold in.
- Transfer half of pasta mixture into dish, spread into an even layer.
- Sprinkle with half of mozzarella or provolone. Top the remaining pasta.
- Pour sauce over pasta, spread into an even layer. Sprinkle with mozzarella or provolone, Parmesan.
- Bake uncovered 30 minutes. Remove. Cool 15 minutes.
