This is also a great recipe if you're a vegetarian. You can use vegetable broth instead of chicken broth and by adding salt and these other ingredients it will still turn out tasting great.
Let's Get Started…
Ingredients To Gather
-
2 tablespoons olive oil
-
1 (8oz) package cremini (baby bella) mushrooms, sliced
-
2 tablespoons butter
-
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-
1 (14.5 oz.) can chicken broth
-
½ teaspoon browning sauce
-
2 teaspoons finely chopped rosemary
-
Kosher salt to taste
-
Freshly ground black pepper to taste
Step By Step Instructions
-
Heat two tablespoons olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms and saute until lightly browned, about 5 minutes and then turn off heat.
-
In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat and whisk in flour.
-
Once the it starts to bubble, turn heat to low. Whisk constantly until it resembles a smooth paste and toasty aroma.
-
Whisk in chicken broth, browning sauce, and rosemary. Add salt and pepper to taste. Continue to cook gravy until it comes to a boil. Then turn to medium low heat and whisk until gravy thickens and add mushrooms.
Finished!
You'll quickly realize that this is a perfect new gravy for your mashed potatoes. You'll want to make it again and again. You can even use it for Thanksgiving to pour all over your turkey and whatever else you like to pour gravy on. Use as much as you like.
Enjoy!
