Here's everything you need for this satisfying beef jerky. You need fifteen minutes of prep time and six hours of cooking time for this recipe.
Let's Get Started…
Ingredients To Gather:
- 1 cup soy sauce
- 1¼ cups Dr Pepper soda
- 2½ tablespoons honey
- 2½ tablespoons crushed red chile flakes
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- ½ tablespoon garlic powder
- ½ tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 pound skirt steak
Directions To Follow:
1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together all the ingredients, except the skirt steak, until incorporated.
2. Cut the skirt steak into 8-inch-long slabs, and then slice against the grain for ¼-inch-thick slices. Using a mallet, pound the slices to a ⅙-inch thickness. Add the sliced steak to the bowl and marinate overnight.
Helpful Tips & Tricks:
After you've let the meat marinate overnight, preheat the oven to 175 degrees Fahrenheit and then remove the steak slices from the marinade, shaking off any excess marinade. Lay the slices on two sheets of parchment paper, dividing the meat evenly between the parchment. Each sheet of parchment should be attached to a wire rack. Put the baking sheets into the oven and cook for 6 hours until the meat is dehydrated. When it's done, take it out of the oven and let cool completely before serving.
Finished!
The really great thing about beef jerky is that you can store it for one month in an airtight container, so you can always have a quick and easy snack on hand. Plus it's easy to eat and you can tuck it in your bag or purse so you always have something to munch on.
Enjoy!
