This Set-It & Forget-It Slow Cooker BBQ Brisket Comes Out Super Tender & The BBQ Sauce Is Made From Scratch!

Here's everything you need for this rich, succulent BBQ brisket. If you're vegetarian or vegan, you can substitute water or vegetable broth for the meat broth.

Ingredients To Gather:

  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons chipotle chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon celery salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 4 to 5 lb fresh beef brisket (not corned beef)
  • 1 1/2 cups ketchup
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 cup low-sodium beef, chicken or vegetable broth or water

Directions To Follow:

Start by mixing the brown sugar, chipotle chili powder, cumin, celery salt, garlic powder, salt and pepper in a small bowl. Then, coat the inside of 6-quart slow cooker with cooking spray and place the brisket inside. Coat it in the mixture you just made. Mix 3/4 cup of the ketchup, the apple cider vinegar, onion and Worcestershire sauce in another bowl, and then pour this mixture and the broth over the brisket. Cover and cook on low for between 6 and 8 hours or until the brisket reaches 160 degrees Fahrenheit inside. Check this by using a meat thermometer. Take the brisket out and place on a cutting board, and let it stand for 10 minutes. Add the rest of the ketchup to the sauce still in the slow cooker and make sure it's mixed well. Finally, slice the brisket and pour the sauce over the top.

That sounds delicious! We can't wait to try it! We like this brisket because it freezes well, so it's the perfect thing to keep on hand for a quick dinner. Just place it in an airtight container and stick in the freezer, and you can keep it for 3 months. Yum!
