
This incredible Bologonese sauce makes about six servings but if you want more to enjoy again later, you can just double the ingredients. This recipe uses Italian plum tomatoes to make the sauce nice and flavorful. You can always substitute regular plum tomatoes if you need to. It takes about four hours to be ready to enjoy so the sauce can soak up all those wonderful flavors.

The Ingredients To Gather:
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons butter
- ½ cup onion
- ⅔ cup celery
- ⅔ cup carrot
- ¾ pound ground beef chuck
- Salt
- Black pepper
- 1 cup whole milk
- Whole nutmeg
- 1 cup dry white wine
- 1 ½ cups Italian plum tomatoes
- 1 ¼ to 1 ½ pounds pasta
- Parmigiano-reggiano cheese for serving
The Step By Step Directions To Follow:
- Put oil, butter, chopped onion in pot, turn heat to medium.
- Cook.
- Stir onion until it has become translucent, add chopped celery, carrot.
- Cook 2 minutes, stir.
- Add ground beef, large pinch of salt, pepper.
- Cook until beef has lost its red color.
- Add milk, simmer, stir until it has bubbled away completely.
- Add 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg.
- Stir.
- Add wine, simmer until it has evaporated, add tomatoes, stir.
- When tomatoes bubble, turn heat down so sauce cooks at the laziest of simmers.
- Cook, uncovered, 3 hours or more.
- Stir.
- To keep sauce from sticking, add 1/2 cup of water whenever necessary.
- Toss with pasta, adding tablespoon of butter.
