We Were Shocked When We Found Out These Dark Secrets From McDonald’s!

We Were Shocked When We Found Out These Dark Secrets From McDonald’s!

We hope you've braced yourselves, because we're about to reveal the deepest, darkest secrets that McDonald's absolutely, positively does not want anyone to know about it. Be warned, though, this list is pretty brutal, so read at your own risk!

They once got (and still might get) their nuggets from lethally abused chickens

Back in 2015, animal welfare organization Mercy for Animals released video of workers at T&S Farm abusing chickens before slaughtering them. These chickens then made their way into McDonald's menu items, and though the fast food giant publicly condemned the workers' actions and distanced themselves from the chicken supplier, questions remain about how animals are treated before being killed and used for McDonald's food.

They won't pay workers overtime for working major holidays

The fast food giant used to close on Thanksgiving and Christmas, until 2012 when it started opening its locations for both holidays. Unlike many other employers, McDonald's doesn't pay workers overtime for working these holidays, on the basis that employees volunteer to work these days.

They're tax cheats

According to a report called Golden Dodges: How McDonald's Avoids Paying its Fair Share of Tax, McDonald's avoided paying $1.8 billion in taxes between 2009 and 2013, all by using questionable loopholes and moving some of its profits to countries known as tax havens. It's also accused of stealing money from the European Union and Australia by sending profits through other countries, as well as bribing tax officials in Brazil.

Its salads and oatmeal are unhealthier than their burgers

Under pressure from an increasingly health-conscious public, McDonald's introduced seemingly healthier menu options in recent years, but these items actually have more calories, sodium and other unhealthy ingredients than the restaurant's burgers.

They'll sue anyone with the gall to run a business with ‘Mc' or ‘Mac' in its name

This is a frighteningly long list, but essentially the fast food behemoth is determined to prevent other restaurants from using a similar name as its, even if the restaurant in question is not a direct competitor. Case in point: They sued a hot dog stand called McAllen, even though McDonald's doesn't even serve hot dogs! They lost that one, but they usually win without much of an effort.

Woooooow!
