Why Sacrifice Flavor By Heating Up A Bag Of Frozen Chicken Nuggets When You Can Easily Make Them Yourself?

The secret to this homemade chicken nugget recipe is to cut the chicken just right so they can cook properly before the breading gets too done, so make sure you cut the chicken into bite size pieces. You can also put the breading on the chicken and then freeze them for up to six months to save time if your kid likes to eat chicken nuggets all the time. This recipe makes enough for four servings but you can double it if you need more. They only take ten minutes to cook so your kid doesn't have to wait long to enjoy them, which is good for them and for you.

Let's Get Started!

The Ingredients To Gather:

  • 2 Chicken Breasts, Cut Into Small Pieces
  • 1 cup Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Seasoned Salt
  • Salt And Black Pepper
  • 2  Eggs
  • 2 Tablespoons Water
  • 2 cups Seasoned Breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Ketchup And Mustard

The Step By Step Directions To Follow:

  1. Make the breading assembly line: Stir together the flour, seasoned salt, salt and pepper. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and water. In another bowl, add the breadcrumbs. Bread a few pieces of chicken at a time by dredging them with flour, then quickly dunking them in the egg mixture, rolling them in  breadcrumbs until they're coated. Shake off the excess and place them on a plate or pan.
  2. In a nonstick skillet over medium heat, heat 1 1/2 to 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-low to medium heat. (You want it to be hot enough to sizzle gently when you add the chicken, but not so hot that it browns too quickly.)
  3. Drop  8 to 10 pieces of chicken and spread them out to give them room. Let them fry on the first side for a minute or so, turn them over to brown on the other side.
  4. The chicken should cook until the breadcrumbs are deep golden brown, about 2 to 3 minutes total; if the chicken pieces are small, this should be enough time for the chicken to cook through.
  5. Remove the chicken to a paper towel lined plate and repeat with the rest of the chicken until it's all fried. Serve warm with ketchup or mustard!
