We've all heard the jokes about cops and doughnuts, specifically how you can typically find police officers hanging out at doughnut shops. This cliche may or may not be true, but it's an important part of the lore surrounding this tasty treat. If you're like us, you probably don't think too much about doughnuts beyond how delicious they taste. However, it turns out this tasty little treat has quite a fascinating history, and we're seeing one of our favorite desserts in a whole new light!
For example, did you know that the familiar see-through box doughnuts come in were only invented in 1959? That's a pretty new invention, but now it's unusual to see pastries that don't come in a see-through box.
