Have You Ever Had Al Pastor Before? It’s Made Entirely In A Crock Pot & A Tried & True Authentic Recipe!

This amazing Al Pastor recipe makes a ton because of the five pounds of pork so there should be enough for everyone plus anyone else you want to invite over. You can top it with sour cream, avocado,pineapple or any of your other favorite toppings. It takes about eight to ten hours to cook in the crock pot but it will smell so delicious you won't want to wait to try it!

Let's Get Started…

The Ingredients To Gather:

  • 1 (5-pound) pork shoulder roast
  • 1 bottle of beer
  • 2 chipotles in adobo sauce
  • 1 pineapple
  • ½ cup red onion
  • 3 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Corn tortillas, for serving

The Step By Step Directions To Follow:

  1. Cut pork shoulder into chunks, roughly 2-inches all around.
  2. Place pork chunks into slow cooker, and set aside.
  3. Place chipotles in adobo, chopped pineapple, chopped red onion, chili powder, lime juice, white vinegar, salt, cumin and black pepper into a blender or food processor.
  4. Puree until the mixture is completely smooth, 30-60 seconds.
  5. Add beer to mixture stir until it is evenly incorporated.
  6. Pour pureed mixture on top of the pork in your slow cooker, and toss until each piece of pork is coated with sauce.
  7. Cook on low for 8-10 hours (or on high for 4-5 hours), stirring occasionally, until the pork is fork-tender.
  8. Turn slow cooker off use two forks to shred the pork.
  9. Stir shredded pork so that it soaks up all the juices.
  10. Allow pork to soak for 10-15 minutes, then serve it warm, heaped on corn tortillas.
