You can substitute the canned stuff for a Sugar Pumpkin if you want to make it fresh.

Here Is What You're Going To Need:

FILLING:

  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (12-ounce) can evaporated low-fat milk
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 (15-ounce) can unsweetened pumpkin

CRUST:

  • 1/2 (15-ounce) package refrigerated pie dough (such as Pillsbury)
  • Cooking spray
  • TOPPING:
  • 1/4 cup whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon amaretto (almond-flavored liqueur)
  • 2 teaspoons powdered sugar

Directions To Follow:

Turn the oven up to 425 degrees

Filling:

  1. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, low-fat milk, egg whites, and egg. Make sure to add that pinch of salt to season it.
  2. After they are well mixed, apply the unsweetened pumpkin and blend again. When smooth, set aside.

Crust:

  1. Cover the 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray.
  2. Knead and shape the dough so that it will go into the plate.
  3. Take the outer ends of the dough and tuck them under the plate’s edges; in other words, fold.

Bake:

  1. Combine the wet mixture by putting them in the dough-covered pie plate.
  2. Put the plate on top of a baking sheet, which will be placed in the lowest rack in the oven.
  3. Bake for 10 minutes.
  4. Then turn down the temperature to 350 and keep the pie in there for another 50 minutes.

Topping:

  1. Take a mixer and beat the cream until it becomes creamy and thick. Insert the amaretto and powdered sugar in the mixer and mix lightly again until well combined.
  2. Before applying the topping, make sure your pie has cooled completely after taking it out of the oven.

~*~ Helpful Tip ~*~

Add some chocolate shavings on top and whipped cream for a fancier look.

Here is a tip to make your pumpkin pie’s crust extra crispier: when you put the prepared pie into the oven to bake, make sure to place the plate in the lowest rack so that the dough will interact with the heat more. Share this completed pie with your family members to remind you that it is Fall and have a cozy time.
