New Study Shows That Gluten-Free Diet May Be Doing More Harm Than Good

You May Want to Skip Gluten-Free Unless It's Medically Necessary

Up until recently, a gluten-free diet was something few people knew about. After all, it was a diet designed for just 1 percent of the population, namely those who have celiac disease, an autoimmune disorder that can cause inflammation and intestinal issues. However, a few years ago it became one of the latest and trendiest diets, with people adhering to it for weight loss and a wide range of other conditions.

While gluten-free has been all the rage for some time now, over the last couple of years people have begun to question if it's something that people without celiac disease should really be doing. Now, Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School are publishing results from their study on the effects of a gluten-free diet, and what they found is troubling, particularly when it comes to the effects on heart health.

This article seems to imply that only people with Celiac’s disease benefit from going gluten free. Altho I agree that you shouldn’t do it without a doctor’s approval, my grandson who is autistic also benefits greatly by being on a gluten free diet. He’s much calmer and easier to get along with due to this.
