If there is one thing I have learned by being a parent is that kids have the strangest taste in food. The simpler the better. Hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, pizza and a plethora of basic casseroles. Basically, if it looks like it should be a potluck or another child's birthday party chances are its a good choice for dinner.
There have been numerous times when we have taken our children to restaurants and attempted to get them to try things outside of their normal day to day feasts however they always resort to the same three dishes, pizza, mac and cheese and chicken fingers. While for me this would get mundane very fast kids do not think the same ways we do yet I have found some new recipes that they love that are slightly different from the ones that they eat everyday. So let's take a look at one of those recipes right now.
For this Sloppy Joe Tater Tot recipe, you will need the following.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 15 ounces tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 32 ounces frozen tater tots
- 2 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded
- ¼ cup dill pickles, chopped
Once you have all of that let's take a look at what we need to do with it in order to give our kids a meal they will love that isn't the same box of mac and cheese.
