Starbucks Takes a Cue From Pinterest With Its Latest Test

For me, there is nothing better than a great cup of coffee to start or end the day.  Sure towards the end of the day, I have to switch to decaf but it's well worth it to get a moment of peace over a piping hot cup of joe.

Now despite the debate between the Starbucks lovers and haters, I will freely admit that I love Starbucks and the fact that the coffee is “strong” and full of flavor. I also love many other coffee houses so no I am not STRICTLY a Starbucks only coffee drinker however with this latest test they are running I will tip my hat towards them for once again placing themselves in the forefront of the industry.

So what are they doing?

Well like I said earlier they are taking a cue from Pinterest and utilizing one of the most popular pins and bringing it to life in some of their stores.

Yes- you heard it here first, they are now putting coffee ice cubes in their iced coffee!!

I know that this seems so unbelievably simple but it is now putting them light years ahead of the competition.

Unfortunately, it's only here for a limited time — eight weeks — and it'll be available at 100 Starbucks locations in two cities: St. Louis, Missouri, and Baltimore, Maryland. “As a company, we often test new products, programs, and ideas to gather feedback from our customers and partners (employees),” a spokesperson for Starbucks tells CNBC.

Those who can't get their hands on the coffee ice during its limited trial can always DIY it at home. Homemade coffee ice cubes can be made with fresh or leftover coffee, and they only need about four hours in the freezer before they can be used.

What are your thoughts? Do you think that this will be the new trend for Starbucks?
