There was an old ice cream shop we used to go to when I was a kid. It was great because it was right next to the baseball field where we would all spend hours on the weekends and during the summer. There was no interior seating, you either walked up to the window on the front or drove your car to the window on the side. It was very “old school” and we all loved it.
It's hard to determine what the best thing on the menu was as they had so many awesome options but one of the best sellers was the soft serve cone dipped in chocolate. It was a special kind of chocolate that hardened the moment the ice cream touched it. It created this awesome crust on the outside and it was amazing in its simplicity.
As I got older it stayed one of my favorite treats. Now that I have kids of my own the ice cream shop is still there and still open to this day. Not much about it has changed, in fact, only one thing about it has changed. They started advertising a new kind of soft serve. I had to question what was so wrong with the old soft serve. Curiosity got the best of me so one day I asked…now I wish I hadn't. Turns out that innocent ice cream cone isn't so innocent…let's take a look at what is inside most soft serve ice cream.
