This Cheesy Baked Gnocchi Tastes Like Something Straight From an Authentic Italian Kitchen

Here's everything you need for this savory cheesy baked gnocchi. This recipe serves two.

Ingredients to Gather

Kosher salt
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 pound fresh gnocchi
1 cup marinara sauce
1/4 pound fontina cheese, cubed
1 sprig fresh basil, chopped or torn
Directions to Follow
Start by preheating the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit, and then pouring olive into a baking dish, using a paper towel or pastry brush to rub the oil on the dish. Set the dish aside, and then boil a large pot of water, salting generously. Let the salt dissolve and then add the gnocchi, cooking until they float to the top of the pot, usually between 3 and 4 minutes. When the gnocchi start to float, remove them from the boiling water using a slotted spoon, shaking off any excess liquid as you do so. Place the gnocchi in the oiled dish you prepared earlier, and then add the cubed fontina, making sure it's evenly distributed among the gnocchi. Take 1 cup of the marinara and spoon it over the mixture, but don't mix it in. Now, bake the pasta until the sauce begins to bubble and the top has turned a golden brown color, usually about 10 to 15 minutes. When it's done, take it out of the oven and then top with fresh basil.
