Toasted Ham and Cheese Sandwich

Toasted Ham and Cheese Sandwich

As with any good sandwich, we need to start with the ingredients, the building blocks to our sandwich palace! You probably have most of what you need already, but if not, don't worry you have plenty of time to get what you need before lunch!

Ingredients

Sourdough Bread

Sliced Deli Ham

Garlic Butter Spread

Sliced Cheddar Cheese

Spicy Yellow Mustard

Sliced Avocado, Tomato, Lettuce, Pickle, Peppers, Onions (Optional)

Now that we have all the necessary items, its time to start making some sandwich art. The good news is that the steps to making this delicious sandwich are pretty simple and straightforward. Follow along.

Directions

– Using your Garlic Butter Spread, spread butter evenly across sourdough bread (butter one side for each piece of sourdough).

– Place buttered Sourdough into to preheated broiler oven, and toast until bread is a crispy golden brown. Remove from oven, (leave oven on for next step).

– Build your sandwich! I prefer to start with the cheddar cheese on the non-crispy side of your sourdough, and follow with your sliced ham, and preferred extras, i.e. avocado, tomato etc. Drizzle a light coat of spicy mustard across the top, place second piece of sourdough on top.

-Now that your sandwich is built, its time to add the finishing touches. Return your sandwich to oven and broil until your cheese is starting to melt. Remove and let cool, and slice.

Enjoy!

Hopefully you will enjoy this fresh take on the classic sandwich as much as my family does. There is a lot to be said of taking this simple recipe and creating tasty smiles. However, the best part is, this recipe is extremely easy to prepare, and the end result is truly the definition of a gourmet sandwich. From the crunchy toasted garlic bread, to the savory, silky melted cheese. The savory ham, and tang of the spicy mustard, I can almost assure you you'll be making this sandwich for years to come!
