Why This Kind Of Garlic Will Never Be In My Kitchen

Why This Kind Of Garlic Will Never Be In My Kitchen

This best thing about garlic is it's bold great flavor that adds something extra to our favorite foods from pasta to bread and everything in between. Yes, this new garlic means that you can enjoy it when you are on a date or have to make a good first impression but is the lack of the flavor we all know and love really worth it? We discovered that may be a little too good to be true.

This  Garlic May Not Taste The Same Because:

Allicin, a compound found in garlic that gives it its pungent flavor and scent, is the cause of the bad breath you get after eating your favorite garlicky foods. Armed with this knowledge, two Italian farmers rescued an ancient allicin-free heirloom variety from near extinction and started marketing it under the name KissinGarlic. It seems appropriate when you consider the fact that it supposedly doesn't cause bad breath, but I'm not sold. When you lose the allicin, you lose a lot of the flavor .

Admittedly, garlic breath kisses aren't my favorite kisses, but I don't think I could date — or be friends with — anyone who couldn't handle an occasional bout of garlic breath. Really, a true friend would tell you your breath smells rank anyway and hand you a stick of gum, right?

This garlic was probably extinct for a good reason.

We Wouldn't Try It Would You?

This version of garlic may let you enjoy it without suffering bad breath but if the taste is not the same, it may not be that enjoyable.

I have been telling my husband this for the past week. When I made spaghetti sauce this week it was like I never had any garlic in it and I put in 5 cloves.. Even my meatballs were bland..

This is one reason I started growing my own. GMO garlic has been flooded on the market. I started doing research on it many years ago…bought non gmo garlic from reputable seed company & grown my own ever since. I make my own minced garlic, garlic powder. I plant garlic every year, from my own stock.
If you go into any store, most “raw” garlic has no scent…or very mild.
If you look on minced garlic, garlic seasonings. ..the labels will say added natural flavoring….
    No thanks!

Think this is baloney. We grow both the whole bulb and ones like pictured and they have the same flavor and taste.
